KEYBOARDING WITH MICROSOFT® TECHNOLOGY (0520)
1 Semester.................................................. 1/2 Credit

labrador-heart-soul.jpg

Students will learn to operate the alphabetic and numeric keyboards using the traditional style of keyboarding (8 fingers and a thumb) through introductory lessons in word processing (Microsoft Word) and spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel).  Desktop publishing lessons will be introduced to teach students to draw and add text/word art to a variety of documents.  Students will learn skills in this class that they will be able to use throughout their education and career.  It is most important for each student to reinforce the traditional method of keyboarding every single day and every single time they use the keyboard once the home keys have been introduced. Introduction of the home keys takes place during the first few days of the semester. From that day forward, each student is expected to always use the traditional method of keyboarding.

Successful completion of this course will satisfy the prerequisite for Business Tech. I and Word Processing I.  I strongly recommend that your student enroll in both of these classes before graduating from MHS.

All current 2008 semester students now know all the alphabetic keys after a process of seven weeks.  All keyboarding students are challenged to use their eight fingers and right thumb while doing keyboarding at home for school projects and personal typing.  The use of eight fingers and right thumb will increase their knowledge of the keyboard which will help in the daily projects.

Please check on the PAM gradebook for regular grade updates.
