LION’S CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

-  Must have a sight and/or hearing disability as verified by Driver’s License or a letter from a physician verifying the condition

-  Must rank in top 11% to top 40% of class (top 10% not eligible…)

-  Must demonstrate a financial need; two letters of recommendation required.

-  Must NOT have received a full-tuition scholarship to college of choice

-  Due for 2009: March 31.

 

GARFIELD RETIRED STAFF SCHOLARSHIP

-  Must have attended Garfield Elementary for at least 4 years; Must be continuing education

-  Criteria:  2.5 GPA; community volunteer hours; Financial need to be considered

-  Circle “Garfield Retired” and attach a one page sheet listing your volunteer hours.

 

 

ELAINE S. BUSHMAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

-            In memory of a Garfield teacher

-            Criteria: creativity, scholarship achievement, need

-            $ amt. varies

 

 

RICHARD HOFFMAN COLLINS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

-  This is the largest scholarship fund for Medina’s graduating seniors.

-  This scholarship is given by the Robert D. Collins family in memory of Richard Hoffman Collins

    who was a Medina resident.

-  $24,000 was awarded to seniors in the Class of 2008.

-  Need-based

-  Number and $ amt. of scholarships varies from year to year.

 

 

RICHARD HOFFMAN COLLINS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR POST-GRADUATES

-           Thanks to the generosity of the Collins Family, post-graduates are offered scholarships.

-           Priority is given to students who may have financial difficulty initiating or continuing their post-           secondary  education at any level.

-           For 2008, $13,000 was awarded based on applications submitted by March 15.

 

 

WILDER SCHOLARSHIP

-    Must have minimum 2.3 gpa

-    Community service and extra-curricular activities considered

-    One recipient is selected by the MHS Department Heads; amount varies.

 

 

R.P.M.INTERNATIONAL INC.NURSING/ALLIED HEALTH SCHOLARSHIP

-    Must be accepted at an accredited school of nursing or at an accredited allied health program.

-    Two for $1,000 each

 

KANEHL MUSIC EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP

-    Must intend to major in music education

-    Number and $ amt. varies

 

 

JENNIFER STICKNEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

-    Must intend to pursue post-secondary education

-    Minimum 3.0 gpa; financial need

-    One for $1,000

-    Preference to students who were HUDDLE members

 

 

WHITNEY MOREHEAD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

-                  Priority given to 1) females pursuing aviation or related field; 2) female

  pursuing science field; then, 3) male pursuing aviation or related field.

-                 Minimum 3.0 gpa; financial need; two for $500 each.

-                 Essay: “It sincerely is the pondering, curiosity, and wonderment that make life worthwhile.”

-              Complete the MHS SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION; circle “Morehead” and ATTACH ESSAY.

 

 

DR. DENNIS GAISHAUSER MEDICAL SCHOLARSHIP

-    Open to anyone pursuing a medical career, i.e. pre-dental, pre-medical, nursing, phys. therapy, etc.

-    Financial need and work ethic may be considered

-    One for $1,000

-    Complete the MHS SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION; circle “Gaishauser.”

 

 

FRED J. HARGROVE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

-    Open to any college bound senior who enjoyed high school by participating in a variety of activities

-    Minimum 2.5 GPA; financial need will be a consideration

-    Two for $500 each

-    Essay required: Choose one of the following to share your thoughts and beliefs:

                                   -    1. In a one page essay, describe the person who guided you to where you are today, and

               how you will take those lessons and use them to build a positive future.

                                   -    2. Choose one of the following words and write an one page essay on what that word means and how it  affects the way you live your life: Integrity, Inspiration, or Determination.

-    Complete the MHS SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION; circle “Hargrove” and ATTACH ESSAY.

 

 

WINIFRED MUSKA -PLACE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

-    Must intend to pursue a career in education

-    Merit and need based

-    Two for $1,000 each

 

 

DOERMANN N.CROSS-COUNTRY SCHOLARSHIP

 

-            Two scholarships will be awarded for $1,000 each, one to a male and one to a female who ran cross-country at

    MHS for at least two years

-            Financial need is to be considered

 

THE MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. SCHOLARSHIP

 

-            Recipient must be a minority in the Medina City School District who exemplifies the

    quality and character of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.:

-            *Recipient shall reflect racial reconciliation

-            *Recipient shall possess a non-violent attitude

-            *Recipient shall be seeking to further his/her education

-            *Recipient shall possess a 2.5 or better cumulative gpa

-            *Recipient shall have overcome personal life obstacles

-            Essay required: “A dream I have that could improve the world.”

-            Amount varies, dependent upon funding

-            Complete the MHS SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION; circle “MLK” and ATTACH ESSAY.

 

RICHARD CLEVIDENCE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

 

-            Given in honor of a “Master Teacher” and a dear friend to all

-            Open to any student receiving LD services; minimum 2.0 gpa

-            Applicant should:

-            Have an interest in pursuing post-secondary education

-            Possess an inquisitive mind

-            Demonstrate a love for learning

-            Demonstrate a good work ethic

-            Have a compassionate nature

-            Desire to give back to the community

-            One scholarship for $1000

 

LETHA HOUSE SCHOLARSHIP

-            In memory of Letha House who established a trust fund in 1963 to assist students in

    funding college education

-            Criteria: 75% academic performance in science, 25% upon an interest in pursuing a

    career in horticulture or related field of science.

-            Applicant must have attended Medina City Schools for at least 5 years.

-            $500-$1000

 

KNIGHTS OF PYTHIAS COMET LODGE 60 SCHOLARSHIP

-     Criteria: college bound student who has financial need

  -    $500

 

BARBARA AND STEVE KOMJATI SCHOLARSHIP

-                   Open to any college bound senior

-                   Preference given to those of Hungarian Descent
