Course description: A course that will involve many aspects of web page design. Students may also be required to work to promote, maintain, and update the Medina High School web site. Areas of concentration will involve Photography, Photoshop (photo manipulation), Illustrator (Illustration), Dreamweaver (web page design), Fireworks (web graphics), Flash (animation). Assigned projects will be required in each area.
Fee: $0
Objective: The objective of this course is to introduce students to the use of the industry standard software to develop and maintain web sites. Students completing this course will have a basic understanding of how to design and produce a web effective web page.
Teacher expectations: You are expected to be to class on time. Each student will work to the best of his or her ability to complete assignments on time and to foster an attitude of learning.
Rules
Of course the student code of conduct will be enforced. Also, in order to maintain a safe environment, conducive to learning and teaching, these additional rules will be enforced. These rules may be amended if necessary.
1. Follow directions the first time given.
2. No talking while the instructor is addressing the class.
3. No equipment use without permission.
4. No inappropriate talk. (swearing, racial comments, insults)
Negative consequences for choosing to not follow the rules.
Consequences for disrupting class or not meeting your responsibilities will be determined on a case-by-case basis. If we cannot work out a solution, I will issue detentions and eventually I will involve a parent, administrator, and/or counselor if necessary.
Course requirements:
Students will be given a daily participation grade of 1 point per day or 45 points per quarter. Options for activities that earn the 1 point are, class project and homework. (games on the net do not count). Grades will be based on completion of class activities and projects. Grading scale will be the same as that explained in your student handbook.
Students must complete assigned projects before working on other projects.
