Reviewing for the To Kill a Mockingbird exam

*     Let’s assume that you have carefully read the entire novel and completed your reading journals.

*     Review class notes on Harper Lee and the 1930’s

*     Review class notes on The Scottsboro Trial and the Emmett Till Trial.

*     Review the questions that you answered and that we discussed in class.

*     Review your reading journals.

*     Review your character log—know who all the characters are and be able to explain the role of each.

*     Answer review questions on web site—get a study group together and discuss the questions or quiz each other.

*     Using your journals (or the novel) create a flow chart or timeline of significant events in the novel.

*     Identify the main themes of the novel and the scenes or passages that support them.

*     Rent the movie. The movie leaves out many scenes from the novel, but it is fairly faithful to the novel. Besides being a good review after reading the novel, it is a great movie. Remember, though, that the test is based on the novel, not the film.
