Elizabethan Times and Shakespeare
Take me back to Elizabethan
England (1558-1603). Now you are the teacher! Choose a topic from
the list below that you are interested in learning
more about, research it, and present to us about why it is so important:
- Theater and play-going
- Design and construction of the
Globe Theater
- Shakespeare as a playwright and
actor
- Shakespeare’s life
- Queen Elizabeth I
- Everyday life from the
perspective of a nobleman
- Everyday life from the
perspective of a man
- Everyday life from the
perspective of a woman
- Employment
- Marriage
- Crime and Punishment
- Entertainment
- Famous people
- Fashion
- Religion
- Technology/ machines
- Food/ Cuisine
- Do you have another idea?
- You must write your research paper individually;
however, you may choose to do the presentation portion as a pair (that
means 2). **Note: if you choose to work with a friend, I strongly
encourage you to choose this partner wisely and to use all allotted time
in the most productive manner.
- All topics must be covered by someone in the class
before a topic may be duplicated.
The Presentation
- Presentations will begin on Tuesday, March 31st
- You must use at least 3 sources
in your research. Be sure to cite these sources throughout your
work whenever you are not using original thoughts or information.
Provide a list of sources used.
- Here is a link if you are looking
for some good, credible information: http://www.loudoun.k12.va.us/schools/lchs/english/lewis/elizabethan/
. Once you are at this site, click on [Resources].
- You must use at least 2 visual
aids. One of these may be a handout of some sort for the class (if
you need me to make copies of handouts, you must give me the handout at
least 24 hours in advance). Make your visual aids informational; a
poster with your topic and name is not enough, it must convey
information. You may want to make a power point presentation.
Be sure to save your presentation on to your drive at school or a flash
drive.
- Be creative and make us just as
interested in the topic as you are.
- You must assess the class in
someway. You are taking on the role of my assistant for this
project, so you need to also make sure the students understand what you are
presenting. This may be in the form of a quiz that you grade at the
end of the presentation.
The Assessment
- Be sure to ask any questions you may have about the
directions above. You will be graded on the following criteria:
- Creativity: Please make your presentation
creative and interesting. Do more than just read a paper to
us. Maybe present the info, then play a game that quizzes the class
on the info you taught.
- Materials: I will be collecting any notes,
sources, handouts, or quizzes you used in the presentation. You
will also include the annotated bibliography from your research paper.
These things don’t need to be typed, but they do need to be neat and
organized. A clean folder with everything in it would be great.
- Presentation: Make eye contact, be confident,
connect with the audience, stand up straight, dress professionally, and
try.
