Concert Choir

Period 2

Concert choir is an auditioned, SATB chorus that is open to MHS students in grades 10, 11, and 12.  This group frequently performs literature that is among the most challenging available to high school singers.  A high level of music reading skill and vocal ability is required for membership, and students in concert choir are expected to continually improve themselves as young musicians.  This choir is directed by Mr. Skidmore and Mrs. Bayda.

CONCERT CHOIR (Females - 3916) 1 year 1 credit

CONCERT CHOIR (Males – 3917) 1 year 1 credit

The Concert Choir is a mixed choir that meets daily.  This choir is open to students in grades 10, 11, and 12 BY AUDITION ONLY.  Participation in Concert Choir is for the advanced musician who has previous vocal or instrumental experience.  Students will study advanced vocal techniques and will be expected to perform a wide variety of vocal literature.

Students are REQUIRED to attend all concerts, which includes Showtime in May, rehearsals and adjudicated events to complete the requirements of this course.  Rehearsal and performance schedules are assigned..

FEES: Women: BLACK CHARACTER SHOES ARE REQUIRED.  Character shoes may be purchased from the choir department for approximately $28 a pair.  Black concert dresses are required.  Dresses will be purchased through the choir department for approximately $100 each.

Men:  A white tuxedo shirt, black tuxedo bow tie, black cummerbund, black tuxedo pants, black socks, and black dress shoes are required to purchase on your own. Tuxedo jacket dry cleaning fee is $8.

All Students are required to provide their own uniforms for Showtime (spring show) production numbers.  Fees can range anywhere between $5 - $50.
